Seminar
tracks
We are
offering this series in two configurations, to accommodate differing
needs and levels of interest. You can sign up for one of these tracks:
1. One
day track - "Finding the Right Propeller" (Fri Jan 21,
$295 per person) - This is where marine professionals can
reacquaint themselves with the principles of marine propulsion for
inboard propellers on all boat types, from large work boats to smaller
"go-fast" boats.
Topics include: Basic propulsion relationships; Understanding propeller
performance; Cavitation; Hull, engine & speed prediction; Choosing
a proper propeller style; Achieving a successful propeller sizing.
A "keynote discussion" will finish the day with industry
representatives. Suitable for everyone with an interest in inboard
propeller propulsion, including boat owners and builders, propeller
dealers and manufacturers, engine and gear companies.
2. Two
day track - "Propeller Sizing with PropExpert" (Fri &
Sat Jan 21-22, $595 per person) - This includes the Finding
the Right Propeller seminar and adds a day devoted to the successful
use of HydroComp's PropExpert propeller sizing software.
Topics include: Introduction to PropExpert 2005; Propeller sizing
strategies; Speed prediction; Analyzing performance; Incorporating
sea trial data; Customizing PropExpert; Case studies: motor yacht,
repowering, sport fish boat, special types; Participant examples.
Suitable for everyone whose job requires them to perform propeller
sizing calculations. This is a PropExpert training seminar, but
you do not need to have a PropExpert license to
attend.
One very popular part of HydroComp's software training days is the
ability to bring your own projects to review with other participants.
Past propeller seminars have been attended by a broad cross section
of the marine industry, with active discussions extending beyond
the close of the day's events. The number of participants for all
HydroComp Training Seminars is limited to insure personal attention,
please register
today.
About
the presenter
The seminar is conducted
by Don MacPherson, HydroComp's Technical Director. A frequent speaker
to conferences, technical societies and trade groups, Don makes
the "black art" of propellers accessible to everyone. A graduate
of Webb Institute and author of many noted journal articles and
technical papers, Don is also the Instructor of Naval Architecture
in the Ocean Engineering Department of the University of New Hampshire.
