What's New - Flamingo 2.0 RC3 (20-June-2008)
Advanced Features :
- Includes the exact same code as the Flamingo 2.0 that will ship as the commercial release.
What's New - Flamingo 2.0 RC2 (11-June-2008) Bug Fixes:
- Background images, Cylindrical and Spherical projections: Azimuth setting did not update properly when view changed. Affected environment background image, reflected environment, and HDR image.
- CD Installer: A problem with displaying currently installed languages has been fixed.
- Crash fixed: Using RenderWindow in a viewport while a normal rendering was in progress caused a crash. This is fixed.
- Dialog box overlap: A problem with being able to use Rhino and Flamingo overlapping dialog boxes has been fixed.
- Document Properties: Problems with clicking the OK button have been fixed.
- Glow: Dialog box lacked a Pick button. This is fixed.
- HDRi background:
- The image did not clear when the background was disabled.
- The Transparency setting has been restored.
- Installer:
- Installer: Flamingo 2.0 installed an empty user library overwritting a user-modified user library. Flamingo installation now migrates user libraries.
- Light dome: The light dome dialog box has been improved.

- Lights: Once IES light distribution was turned on, it could not be turned off. This is fixed.
- Load Flamingo: A problem loading Flamingo when certain plug-in skins are loaded has been fixed.
- Localization: Several problems with localized material libraries have been fixed.
- Mapping: Moving an object messed up the mapping origin. This is fixed.
- Material Libraries: A problem with saving to network drives has been fixed.
- Materials: Any material that used "Mask" procedure (such as the ceramic tile) lost its bitmap in the localized versions of the libraries. This is fixed.
- Materials: Changing the case of a letter in a material name incorrectly deleted the material. This is fixed.
- Radiosity view: The initial radiosity view did not match the Rhino view. This is fixed.
- Soft shadows: Sun soft shadows were pixelated in some cases. This is fixed.

Materials: Crash when changing an image map has been fixed.

crash: Some files crashed when rendering the second render

New
features :
- Installer:
Rollbacks in previous versions did not work correctly. The
installer does not set up for rollbacks, so
that an Uninstall will uninstall all of Flamingo 1.1.
- User Interface
and Material Libraries are now available in French, German,
Italian, and Spanish.
Bug
Fixes:
- Canceling
by clicking the "x" in the render window before the
render was finished caused a crash or hang. This is fixed.
- Crash when
closing render window: An intermittent crash when closing
the render window by clicking the X button is fixed.
- Installer:
The installer now lets you correctly roll Flamingo back to
the previous version.
- Installing with
the option to use AccuRender libraries did not work. This
feature has been removed.
- Mapping with
blocks: Blocks and imported models switched to default
material mapping orientation when inserted/imported, instead
of using their original material orientation setup. This
is fixed.
- Open access
to libraries: The Flamingo installer changes permissions
on the Flamingo Libraries folder so that everyone has permission
to write to it. This allows saving of new Flamingo materials
by users with low-level permissions.
- Options:
Clicking the Flamingo tab and not changing anything triggered
the "You must restart Rhino for Flamingo path changes... message.
This is fixed.
- RenderWindow
command: A crash bug when Alpha Channel is enabled has been
fixed.

Fixes:
- Rendering
Blocks: Blocks on hidden layers could be incorrectly rendered.
This is fixed.
- Material
crash: A crash bug with assigning tile materials has been
fixed.
- The
Ambient color setting was not saved when the dialog
box closed. This is fixed.
- Render
Window: Zooming out Render Window produce artifacts and
color errors. This is fixed.
- When
mapping planar material properties with object snaps,
the mapping visualization frame collapsed. This is fixed.
- FlamingoTransport
incorrectly set the current file to the new transported file
instead of the original file. This is fixed.
- Welding
a mesh did not render properly in some circumstances. This
is fixed.
- Decals
and blocks: Decals applied to blocks became mirrored.
This is fixed.
- Save
Radiosity solution: In some circumstances, it was not
possible to save the radiosity solution. This is fixed.
- Mirrored
planar mapped materials were reversed. This is fixed.
- When
changing a material properties by accessing it via the
command FlamingoMaterials, it did not update in the
rendering. This is fixed.
- A crash
caused by picking in the blank area of the Material Library
has been fixed.
- Screen
bitmap missing: The current Metal material library has
various 'screen' materials, but the screen bitmap (Screen2.jpg)
was not installed. This is fixed.
- FlamingoTransport:
Deleted texture carried on through transport process. This
is fixed.
- Stop
Rendering: Pressing Esc key crash Rhino when building
screen grid at 99%. This is fixed
- FlamingoTransport:
Groundplane material was not saved in the material library.
This is fixed.
- Material
choice incorrect: Setting the material to the Rhino basic
material and then setting it back to Flamingo, did not reset
the Flamingo material. This is fixed.
- Memory
usage: Several bugs relating to memory usage have been
fixed.
- Material
Map size: .0001 units were incorrectly added to the tile
size. This is fixed.
- TIFF
format: Non compressed tiff and tif files can be read
now in Flamingo.
- Installer:
The installer launched even if the user did not have administrator
privilege. This is fixed.
- Material
Library: Opening model from inside Rhino failed to load
the material library associated with the second model. This
is fixed.
- Polar
Array: Polar array could confuse mapping directions. This
is fixed.
- Material
Map size: The map offset was always expressed in meters.
This is fixed.
- FlamingoTransport:
Flamingo Transport reset the environment options. This is
fixed.
- Material
Map: Flamingo crashes when changing material image
mapping texture map with a very large file size. This is fixed.
- Memory
management: When transforming the model and re-rendering
has been improved. This was a problem mainly with animations.
- Memory
management: Improved memory management more accurately
reports out of memory error. Flamingo will start report
out of memroy at 90% of total, giving time to exit and react
to the problem.
- Material
Editor: Several bugs in Material editor when editing
materials with procedural layers have been fixed.
- Material
Editor: Parts of a material definition, specifically material
maps, could be out of scale. This is fixed.
- Radiosity
crash: Starting radiosity calculations after loading a
radiosity file could cause a crash. This is fixed.
- Cancel render
crash: Stopping raytracing just after screen grid processing
caused Rhino to hang. This is fixed.
- High
dynamic tone operator: A black image appeared with the
high dynamic tone operator on images that are not ideal for
the High Dynamic tone operator. Now, the image will
appear, but if it looks poor, using the General Purpose tone
operator might be appropriate.
- Horizon Haze:
Was not working well with sheet clouds. This is fixed.
- Decals and
radiosity: A problem with decal display with a radiosity
solution has been fixed.
- Ambient light:
The setting would revert to the default color. This is fixed.
- Refraction
and jitter: Settings were not being set properly. This
is fixed.
- Blurry transparency:
New settings get better results.
- Internal Reflections:
Reflection vector in total internal reflections is being calculated
more accurately.
- Background
image: The background image works with clouds more consistently.
- Plant materials:
Can now be edited. Add Internal folder to path.
- Corrupt material:
The small pyramid knurl steel material was corrupt. This has
been fixed.
- Point Light:
Hidden point lights still illuminated the scene when the "Use
lights on layers that are off" setting was not in effect.
This is fixed.
- Decals:
UV mapped decals were not rendered using radiosity. This is
fixed.
- Material editing
crash: Several material editing crashes have been fixed.
- Radiosity mesh
calculation was not reset when a new calculation was required.
This is fixed.
- Radiosity
calculation crashed when closing. This is fixed.
- Radiosity:
The previous radiosity calculation meshes are not cleared
when calculating a new solution. This is fixed.
- Radiosity:
Crash on Windows 2000. This is fixed.
- Decal path
crash: Changing the decal path crashed Rhino. This is
fixed.
- Render hidden
objects: Hidden grouped objects were incorrectly rendered.
This is fixed.
- Rhino basic
textures were not rendered by Flamingo. This is fixed.
- Radiosity:
Light movement did not trigger a new radiosity calculation.
This is fixed.
- Pyramid metal
material caused crash. This is fixed.
- Crash exiting
Material Editor: Flamingo crashed on Asian language
WIN XP systems when exiting the material editor. This is fixed.
- Radiosity
crash: A crash when opening a file with a saved photometric
radiosity solution has been fixed.
- FlamingoRenderInWindow:
Crash on saving to a .tif file has been fixed.
- Decal Rotate
Point: Spherical and cylindrical decals did not behave
properly in the perspective viewport. This is fixed.
- Render Window:
Closing window prompted for save even if save had already
been done. This is fixed.
- Material Mapping:
A bug that made it difficult to orient the images has been
fixed.
- Material Preview:
Generating the preview images sometimes took a very long time.
This is fixed.
- Exposure Control:
Changing from Standard to High Dynamic Range caused the background
colors to change. This is fixed.
- Properties:
The Light page did not properly display a vertical scroll
bar. This is fixed.
- Render settings
not imported: When importing from Rhinoceros 3.0 with
Flamingo 1.1 a file created with Rhinoceros 2.0 with
Flamingo 1.0 render settings are not translated. This is fixed.
- When Soft
Shadows were enabled the Properties Source Radius
box is present but was unavailable. This is fixed.
What's
New - Flamingo 1.1 SR2 ( 6-June-2003)
The default
light was not used by Flamingo. This is fixed.
Soft shadows source radius settings did not
set the radius. This is fixed.
The RenderInWindow command is back. It also
works in Rhino.
FlamingoTransport could cause a crash. This
is fixed.
Flamingo could crash when closing the Decal Properties
dialog box. This is fixed.
Decals placed directly on planar objects did
not render correctly. This is fixed.
Starting Internet Explorer caused the rendering
process to stop. This is fixed.
Installer improved to work correctly when AccuRender
materials are the only ones installed on the computer.
Decals and Waves property pages were displayed
twice. This is fixed.
Units settings for material mapping
were not correctly set. This is fixed.
Closing the Flamingo Options page crashed Rhino.
This is fixed.
The material preview cube size did not reflect
current model units. This is fixed.
The Object Properties Flamingo material
assignment was not saved. This is fixed.
The Photometric menu Exposure control was not
activated. This is fixed.
The Light Intensity property did not affect
the light. This is fixed.
The Flamingo beta incorrectly requred that Flamingo 1.0 be installed.
This is fixed.
Ground cover can now be placed on the current
construction plane allowing for vertical placement.
On the Light properties page, the IES browse button and edit
box were disabled. This is fixed.
Scripting the environment background
did not work. This is fixed.
When Flamingo is the current renderer, the Properties
dialog did not allow changing the Flamingo properties of multiple
objects. This is fixed.
Pasting, inserting, or referencing a model
would clear the environment settings. This
is fixed.
Flamingo Properties were not scriptable. This
is fixed.
Radiosity warning did not display. This is
fixed.
Flamingo incorrectly rendered hidden objects.
This is fixed.
Plants copied with the Copy command did not
render. This is fixed.
The ability to close the Options dialog box
while setting the Base Folder caused the base
folder settings to not be saved. This is fixed.
What's
New - Flamingo 1.1 SR1 ( 6-March-2003)
When a radiosity solution exists the model
is saved, checking the "Don't ask this question again"
check box is not rememberd; the box returns each time I save.
This is now fixed.
Spotlight jitter settings for soft shadows
changed by one value (40 became 39). This is now fixed.
Spotlight source radius size for soft shadows
wasn't being used in the rendering. This is now fixed.
Spotlight intensity settings were ignored.
This is now fixed.
Flamingo locked up when editing materials assigned by
layer. This is now fixed.
Assigning Flamingo materials using -Properties
didn't stick. This is now fixed.
Decals and Waves incorectly were listed twice.
This is now fixed.
In FlamingoEnvironment, the 3 color gradient
is reversed in the rendering from the preview in the dialog
box- Top color in the Preview renders at the bottom, Bottom
color at the top. This is now fixed.
